the story of fledge
“’Be winged. Be the father of all flying horses,’ roared Aslan in a voice that shook the ground. ‘Your name is Fledge.’
[…] And then, just as the beasts had burst out of the earth, there burst out from the shoulders of Fledge wings that spread and grew, larger than eagles’, larger than swans’, larger than angels’ wings in church windows. The feathers shone chestnut color and copper color. He gave a great sweep with them and leapt into the air. […]
‘Is it good, Fledge?’ said Aslan.
‘It is very good, Aslan,’ said Fledge.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Magician’s Nephew
fledge design is about taking something ordinary and giving it wings
If you have read CS Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, you may recall the events in The Magician’s Nephew where Aslan takes a rather plain, worn-down carthorse named Strawberry and turns him into a magnificent winged horse, christening him Fledge. Fledge Design was inspired by this story; our aim has always been to empower small or local businesses in their marketing by developing splendid new websites, logos and supports that will let them soar above the competition.
As a family-run business, we know how difficult it can be to allocate the finances required to develop a powerful marketing presence, and so we strive to offer our services in a way that is affordable and achievable.

FAQs
Don’t see your question? Send us an email and we’ll be happy to help!
Do you only work with equestrian brands?
Definitely not! We work with all businesses in every industry, and welcome inquiries from all – but Emily’s lifetime involvement in the equine industry means that many of our projects reflect that passion.
I'm not entirely sure of what I want; can you help?
We would love to help you figure out what you want and need for your brand. Many of our clients have come into a project with us thinking they need something particular, and come out on the other side with something unexpected but perfect! We always spend time in consultation to determine how to best represent your business.
What platforms do you use for website design?
We can use just about every platform that exists on the great web to create your website – so if you have a particular preference for one, please let us know!
Based on our experience, there are some platforms that we recommend over others, such as WordPress, Squarespace and Shopify; this is for a number of reasons including fast function, quality appearance and in some cases, ease of use (for those clients who want to manage their own site).
How does your process work?
When you reach out to us for a project, we immediately send you a comprehensive questionnaire tailored to the project that you need: website, logo, graphics, etc. Completing this questionnaire does not bind you into a contract with us – it helps us to determine the scope of the project and then we can develop an appropriate quote.
Once you have agreed to the quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit is taken to lock in your project. This deposit covers our time and work for the initial stages of your design, such as market research, conceptualization and preliminary designs.
– Logos & graphics will have mock-up designs for review
– Websites will have an initial build for review
etc
Once the project is complete and ready to be transferred in completion to you, the final 50% deposit is required to be paid before you can receive your project. If additional work/mock-ups have been agreed upon, their cost will be included into the final amount.
